Little tidbits from the Met Costume Institute Gala the other night:

1. Marc Jacobs confessed to wearing superman underwear under his tux

2. Scarlett Johansson accessorized her Dolce and Gabanna dress with a new engagement ring from Ryan Reynolds.

3. Christina Ricci left immediatly after realizing that Anna Wintor did not seat her with her boyfriend Kick Gury

4. Vera Wang didn't wear a bra.

Looking Towards the Future

Vogue Italia will be featuring an all-black issue in response to the lack of color in fashion magazines and on the runway. Models set to appear in the issue include: Jourdan Dunn and Liya Kebede so far.

So even if it's going to cost you that ungodly fourteen bucks for the international issue (which will be appearing in July) get it. It's going to make history

It's Coming...

The Metropolitan Musuem of Art's Costume Gala is coming May 5th! This year the theme is "superheroes".

"Today, superhero imagery has suffused almost every aspect of popular culture," said Andrew Bolton, Curator in the Metropolitan Museum's Costume Institute. "The superhero's iconic costume of cape, mask, and bodysuit finds many fashionable permutations. But fashion's embrace of the superhero extends beyond iconography, to issues of identity, sexuality, and nationalism. Fashion shares with the superhero an inherent metaphorical malleability which fuels its fascination with the idea and the ideal of the superhero."

Celebrity rumored to be attending the event are Scarlett Johansson, Kate Moss, Clare Danes, Rachel Bilson, Liv Tyler, Joy Bryant, Kate Bosworth and many others. But I haven't seen Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen (regulars at the event) on any lists.

The main question is "What will they be wearing?"

Redefining a Classic

Once again Gap is collaborating with many a designer to re-invent the classic white shirt. You can find them on their website. Ranging from 78-88 dollars my personal favorites are the patchwork shirt by Band of Outsiders (seen on Chanel Iman at the launch party here) and the low tie neck top by Philip Lim.

Karl is Action-Packed

Who's the newest face of Grand Theft Auto?

Why, Karl Lagerfeld of course! The Chanel designer will be featured in the video games 4th installment as a radio dj. He picked his favorite tunes (electronica, dance) for the game.

According to Lagerfeld, "They had written a politically incorrect dialogue," the designer said. "I loved it, [particularly] in a time when everybody wants to be so politically correct when they talk."

Dunst you love it?

The Kirsten Dunst for Miu Miu ads are so much fun. I think the campaign is doing such a great job with celebrities (I mean hey I'll admit I even liked the ads with Lindsay Lohan.)

The New Side of Chloe

The NY Times announced

"Chloe has just announced that Paulo Melim Andersson has stepped down as creative director after less than 18 months with the Paris house. Hannah MacGibbon will take over. A graduate of Central Saint Martins, MacGibbon worked with Phoebe Philo from 2001 to 2006. Ralph Toledano, the chief executive of Chloe, declined to comment on Andersson’s departure. A former assistant at Marni, Andersson had a difficult time capturing the spirit and energy that Philo brought to Chloe, or providing a new direction."

I can't wait to see what is done with the line!

Fur-licious

I was looking at my favorite style website style.com for the most recent fall fashion shows and i must say I'm in love with the Giambattista Valli fall collection. It's very neutral colors with some red for pop, but the fur is fabulous.

a La Marilyn

Lindsay Lohan has been known to idolize Marilyn Monroe and now she's doing it in print (again). Recreating the photo shoot right before Monroe's death, Lohan is showing off more than she has before for New York Magazine. Find them here on the Magazine's website including outtakes.

Getting a little Loony

You've probably already seen the cartoon-ish new Prada advertisements but Miuccia Prada is taking the prints one step further - film. "Trembled Blossoms" will be unvieled on Febuary 5th at the SoHo boutique and will feature Miuccia's sketches of fairies, butterflies, and what else? handbags.

J'adore Dior

I just browsed through the Paris haute couture show and there are no words. The looks are fabulous and I honestly have no favorites. The layer upon layer at Lacroix, the balloon hems at Dior, and the 75 foot tall replica of a chanel cardigan definitly stand out (and another new one: the models wore flats!)

Bada-Bing

I recently found these photos by David Lynch featuring Christian Louboutin shoes. There are a total of five prints with five shoes.

Louboutin said, “The models wore these unwearable shoes with natural grace. Their very white skin, very dark eyes and bright mouths melded with Lynch's aesthetics… As is his habit, David Lynch made it into a décor populated with shadows.”

The series Fetish is on display at Galerie du Passage in Paris.

Looking Towards the Port[er]

I recently stumbled upon an up-and-coming designer that I think we are going to have to keep our eyes out for. The brand is Porter Grey and it was created by two sisters - Alexandra and Kristen O'Niell. The brand was named after the girls' grandmother. February Sweetheart

I've been pillaging my local CVS for the new february issue of Vogue. The January issue is always so small and I literally read it in one sitting. So finally the new issue is out with a suprising newcomer, Kate Bosworth. In her interview she discusses weight loss due to stress, ex Orlando Bloom, and current boy toy James Rosseau

Oh La La Leg

Victoria Beckham has had a big year this year. From her documentary, Coming to America focusing on her move to L.A. to becoming not only a fashion icon in Britain but also on this side of the pond, she can now add showing off a little leg in the new all-American brand's Marc Jacobs Advertisements.

Oui Oui for Chloe

Chloë Sevigny is officially launching her new clothing line with boutique Opening Ceremony. In February's edition of Teen Vogue, Sevigny stated that the line represented her high school years and have a preppy look. She cut out pictures of celebrities in their bathing suits and drew over them because she said she has a limited sketching ability. Oh well the pictures I've seen so far are fabulous. So hopefully you're located in New York or L.A. to check it out!

Kirsten avec Miu Miu

Apparently Kirsten Dunst will be the new face for the Miu Miu ad campaign. She will be the face of the Spring 2008 ads. We've already seen what Miuccia can do for Selma Blair, Maggie Gyllenhall (and how she even made Lindsay Lohan look pretty darn cool)

Actually, I like Dunst so hopefully the pictures are unique as we've seen before
