Borrowed from my Boyfriend

So while skinny jeans have been dominating for the past year and a half it's nice to see a change in style, but who knew it was going to be boyfriend jeans? I'll admit i've always been a fan of the men's button ups but the jeans... I personally am unsure but Katie Holmes and Sarah Jessica Parker are sporting them around town.

Ahoy Matie!

Betsey Johnson's runway shows are always over the top but her Spring 2009 show was a trip into another world. With Captain Jack Sparrow inspired pirate themes and peter pan-esque outfits, Johnson proved her ability to get away with almost anything (ahm, hoop skirts!)

Sigerson Morrison for Target

I've always been interested in the Go:International lines for Target but the news that duo Kari Sigerson and Miranda Morrison will be creating a line of shoes ranging from $30-$40 is enough to make me run to target now. The collection will include pumps, ankle boots, and flats with details such as studs and metallics.

Dunst Smiles for the Camera

Kirsten Dunst graces the cover of the October issue of Harper's Bazaar. After a mysterious stint at Cirque Lodge rehabilitation center that later turned out to be for depression, Dunst states, "Everyone goes through a hard time in their life." "Now, I'm great."

The cover looks great with Dunst doing something most stars are unwilling to do on any cover other than seventeen - smiling.

Next on the Runway

Diane Von Furstenberg is sure getting a lot of press these days. It is reported that Whitney Port of "The Hills" will be working for her meaning that there will be cameras all around her studio and now Project Runway boasts that the contestants will be making a garment for her collection in its upcoming episode next week.

Material Girl

Who doesn't remember the outfit Madonna wore in the material girl video when she acted like Marilyn Monroe in "Diamond's are a Girl's Best Friend". Who else could actually pull off acting like Monroe? And that Gaultier black satin conical bra she wore on the blonde ambition tour. Madonna has had some crazy outfits and now they are to be on display in February at the Old Truman Brewery in East London. The exhibition will be entitled "Simply Madonna, Materials of the Girl" and the pieces are assumed to be auctioned afterwards.

Tautou for Chanel

While Shirley McClaine may be acting as the fashion guru in a lifetime movie, it is Audrey Tautou, the current face of chanel no. 5, that I am looking forward to seeing playing Coco Chanel. Karl Lagerfeld will be involved in re-creating the costumes of the time, which obviously makes the film a must see. Filming starts September 15 in where else?, Paris.

Bravo Zoe

Rachel Zoe is premiering a new shoe on Bravo all about her work as a celebrity stylist. In a quote, Zoe states, " The biggest challenge of my life is trying to have a personal life and trying to build my brand." Zoe is best known from working with celebrities such as Joy Bryant, Molly Sims, Anne Hathaway and more. You may remember her from her "feud" with Nicole Richie, but anyways, from water disasters to interns that don't get along  be prepared to watch the series premiere on September 8th.

Making an Appearance

Guess who is the new host of Nylon TV for ITunes?
British style icon Peaches Geldof.

It's been rumored that Ashley Olsen suggest Peaches move to New York, but whether or not that is true, she is here and she is ready to get her talk on. Watch the preview episode here

The Line-Up

Target Go-International line-up for the next few months
Richard Chai
Jonathan Saunders
Thakoon

Rumor has it that Alexander McQueen may follow suit. If Only!

Coming to America

So for the second year in a row a Brit takes the cover of September Vogue. Keira Knightley steals the cover. The magazine votes 798 pages of fashion, but less ads were taken out than last year - another sign that the magazine is struggling along with other conde nast publications.

Vogue's Mossy Cover

Kate Moss graces the cover of Vogue and apparently she wants to prove that a mother can still have fun.

"I am still acting like a seventeen-year-old. I definitely haven't become middle-aged. I've got a house and a daughter and all that, but I still like to have fun. Even in my business we still have fun."

Hot for Haute Couture

Christian Lacroix has got to be one of my all time favorite designers. I guess it's because his haute couture designs are always reminiscent of one of my all time favorite eras, the Victorian Age. With all the lace and close attention to details, I find myself in awe.

Two pieces really caught my eye. The pink dress I think because the vast majority of the line was black and thus the color itself stood out and this black number.

Ravashing in Red

The Valentine couture show was held in the Place Vendôme showroom of the house, but what most people were concerned about was how Alessandra Facchinetti would do. This is her first show since Valentino retired leaving her in charge of the collection.

Valentino sat in the front row of the show and I've got to say while it defintily proves to be headed by a different designer, I liked it. And she made sure to end the show with Valentino's signature, a red dress.

Ei, Ei Chai

Richard Chai's new line is being shown off on Nylonmag.com and while I am personally not crazy about all the pieces, I really like the color block dress.

The line will appear in select Target stores in August.

Say Goodbye to Paris

Sean Avery whom I earlier wrote to be attending all the shows at Paris fashion week is nowhere to be seen . Apparently he was needed in the world of hockey and thus was unable to attend as previously planned. Avery's comment?

"I'm sad. I spent three days packing."

Bathing Beauty

The Fall 2008 Paris Couture shows have begun and I begin with showing off a Dior piece that I believe has taken inspiration from the old bathing suits of the 50's.

Inside the "Secret World"

I have just found myself mesmorized by a BBC piece I found on youtube entitled "The Secret World of Haute Couture". Expect to see apperances and interviews with Daphne Guiness, Karl Lagerfeld, John Galliano, and other "club members". The show takes you inside Paris haute couture fashion week and into a few closets of the rather wealthy. But be warned once you begin watching it's hard to stop and you will find yourself glued to the computer for an hour.

R.I.P.

The beautiful "Russian Rapunzel" model Ruslana Korshunova, 20, committed was is apparently suicide yesterday. Investigators believe that she jumped from her ninth story baconey in the financial district of New York.

An article from the New York Post reads,

"I heard what sounded like a gunshot or a bomb or an explosion," said a stunned Con Ed worker talking to a cop nearby. "I looked down the street, and I say to the cop, 'Did that person just get hit by a car?' " said the worker, who identified himself only as Patrick, 32, of Brooklyn. The two men raced over. "Her arms were crushed," Patrick said. "Her head was on the left side and blood was coming out in a pool."

She was a beautiful model and the industry will be missing a piece without her.

In the Dating World

Rumors are circulating that Agyness Deyn and Strokes' lead guitarist, Albert Hammond, Jr. are an item. New York Magazine states that while attending the Songwriters Hall of Fame Awards -

"First the two unabashedly engaged in public displays of affection on the red carpet — an embrace here, a kiss on the cheek there."

We shall see...

No, No, No

One of my favorite fashionable Brits, Amy Winehouse, has found herself in a little bit of trouble once again... but she just wouldn't be who she is without that trouble huh? Reports say she has been diagnosed with emphysema for what her father says is her use of crack cocaine.

A Change of Scenery

It appears that hockey player turned Vogue intern will be making quite the appearance at the couture shows this year. He will be at all of them. As he puts it,

"It doesn't get bigger or better than Paris couture, right?"

Shoe Mania

I'm loving this new show airing on myspace.com/fnshoestar. It's called FN shoe star (FN as in Footwear News magazine) and the episodes are quick 10 minute pieces in which contestants create different shoes and show them off to judges (guest judges so far have included Steve Madden, Pat Fields and more)

The last episode is yet to air but I have my hopes set on Ryan.

Driving School with Lagerfeld

While Karl Lagerfeld may control the streets of fashion, who knew he was controlling the streets of, well, France? Not really, but he is bringing awareness to drivers to wear a bright colored vest when driving at night. The ad, in French, reads

"It's yellow, it's ugly, it doesn't go with anything, but it could save your life."

So would Lagerfeld wear this or his driver?

A Night with Knightley

I've been noticing Keira Knightley alot recently. While she's been in the tabloids a lot recently under reports of allegedly being anorexic (and i must say she is looking quite skinny...) It's the glamour that has struck me the most. She's really transformed from the sporty Bend it like Beckham star we once knew. I especially adore the Chanel pantsuit she wore at the premiere of her new film (in which she sings) The Edge of Love.

The Fairest of them All

Amid all the talk of her speech at a CFDA hosted event in which many spoke of the health of models and their expectations bestowed upon them, Coco Rocha will now be appearing in a Neiman Marcus cataloug ad. I love the photos. Very crisp and white.

Living the Urban Life

I popped into Urban Outfitters yesterday and was pleasantly surprised with their selection of fabulous sandals. The clothes this time around were so-so but I have an obsession with sandals and it's hard to resist these!

Can it be?

I noticed a little something the other day...

So while Lindsay Lohan may be walking tall in her Balenciaga gladiator heels, she also appears to be rocking what? Urban Outfitter flats?

Marcelina Sowa models dresses from Missoni to Lanvin in this underwater shoot.

I do believe this is a swan dress - sort of like the one Bjork wore on the red carpet which caused quite the stir.

Vogue Chooses..

There is discussion that Kate Moss may be the cover girl for the August Issue of Vogue. She has been seen out and about with various members of the Vogue staff, but it is set that the star to grace the Fall Fashion issue is Natalie Portman.

Wednesday was her photo shoot and it can be expected that she will be showing off her recently launched line of vegan footwear, Te Casan.

Inspiration

Mary-Kate and Ashley have been working on a new book entitled "Influence" The book will feature those who have inspired the girls in the fashion sense. Artists reported to be included are: Christian Louboutin, Lauren Hutton, Robert Lee Morris, Terry Richardson, and Jack Pierson.

Mary-Kate stated about the book

"Ashley and I interviewed the people who have inspired us, with the hope that they will inspire and teach others."

The book is due out in Fall 2008.

Bedazzle

Michelle Williams showed up in a Chanel Haute Couture Dress at the Cannes Film Festival to promote her two new films "Wendy and Lucy" and "Synecdoche New York". Sources say that she made a last minute decision to show up at the film festival. This marks her first major public appearence since the death of Heath Ledger.

I think she looks absolutely stunning.

Miss Multitask

While you may be noticing that you've seen Agyness Deyn all over the place: in the Burberry ad, walking a majority of the major fashion labels shows, and in pretty much every fashion magazine out there - she's now doing the new thing - multitasking.
She's got a new single out with Five O'Clock Heros called "Who" (click to see the music video here). She is also starting her own band called Gene Jacket.
Now the new news is that she will acting in a short film with bandmate Alanna Masterson. She plays the imaginary friend of James, a boy whose sister has recently passed away.
Of the part she said:
"I kind of feel like fish out of water, and I’m finding a big pond to swim in. I just like opening up different channels and keeping myself interested.”

Let's Collaborate

Patricia Field, the famed stylist of Sex and the City, is set to collaborate on a line with M&S. The theme is (no surprise here) "Destination Style New York" and set to hit stores in October of this year.

Mixed Reaction

So while everyone seems to be praising Eva Herzigova's look on the red carpet at the Cannes Premier of "Che", I have to admit I'm not exactly liking the look. Sure, she looks better than she did last year (although it certainly isn't easy to rock the red carpet when pregnant), The outfit though definitely rebellious isn't for me.

Ruffle-rific

Natalie Portman donned a Givenchy dress at the amfAR event in Cannes. It reminds me of the oragami look that Dior wowed us with in their couture collection.

Making a Splash

The Chanel Cruise show was held at the Raleigh Hotel by the pool. The runway weaved around the pool, luckly no one fell in! After the show a group of syncronized swimmers jumped in wearing the letters "C-H-A-N-E-L"

The introduction to the show (Sasha opened and closed) is here on youtube
